We met two different people on our walk today who still have what’s known as Anosmia, where the sense of smell, and/or taste, is still not functioning properly caused by the COVID-19 virus. We dug up the following info for those who are still trying to resolve this issue.
Firstly, we have witnessed in person that full-spectrum oil, or broad-spectrum oil from the cannabis plant, that includes the cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol), clears inflammation around the olfactory nerve and assists the recovery of these senses over time. Avoid all CBD that says it is distillate, or isolate. The marketplace is currently awash with these. Only purchase organic, natural oil tinctures.
Alternatively, read a study we found on a 19-year-old patient who had suffered from loss of sense and smell from COVID-19 and recovered using a B-vitamin complex: Source: Wiley Online Library "Treatment with 5000 IU of Citoneurin (vitamin B1 [thiamine hydrochloride], 100 mg/day; vitamin B6 [pyridoxine hydrochloride], 100 mg/day; and vitamin B12 [cyanocobalamin], 5000 mcg/day) orally and olfactory training, which consists of inhaling identified flasks containing cinnamon, cloves, and lavender for 15 min/day were prescribed. Repeated exposure to an odorant may modulate the regenerative capacity of the olfactory receptors. Subjective signs of anosmia began to improve 12 days later. 40 days after the initiation of B-complex vitamins and olfactory training, olfactory function tests showed improved olfactory ability and he recovered from anosmia."
